The landscape from Senora Pass to South Lake Tahoe includes lava rock alien spires and my new favorite tree, Bristlecone Pine, the oldest known non-clonal organism on earth. I love walking through this ancient landscape.
I’ve been trying this new tactic to get my miles in more easily. I wake up at 5:30am and am hiking by 6am. I hike for three hours and take an hour long break. I hike for three more hours and take a half hour break. I hike for three more hours and take another half hour break. Then I hike until 8:30pm or 9pm. It seems to be working. I’m doing between 25-30 miles a day without much difficulty.
